Anyone who bought Tunepal for Android today or upgraded the Android version – you may have noticed that you couldn’t submit recordings for matching. My apologies! I rolled out an update last night without checking it sufficiently. Its fixed now if you update to the latest version – Version 1.15

There is a new version of Tunepal on the Android Market today with the following new features:

The ability to open an ABC music file from your SD card and import the tunes into My Tunes
Tunepal now displays a warning message if you go to record a tune and have the transcription fundamental note not set to concert pitch (D). Thanks to Padraic Lavin for this suggestion!

New versions of Tunepal and Tunepal HD are live on the Apple app store today!

iOS users have always had the excellent Tunebook app for managing ABC music files on their devices, but Tunebook is not available on Android. I have therefore been working on the next version of Tunepal for Android that allows users to browse tunes stored in ABC files on their devices, and import tunes into “My Tunes” in Tunepal from ABC files. If anyone is interested in testing this functionality before I release it, please PM me.

Android users should get the latest Tunepal update today. The latest version has the following new features:

Install to SD card option
Reorganised tabs, so that the record tab is first
Offline tune searches (tags are stored and can be resubmitted when you go back online)
A pause button on the tune display screen
Tune playback now loops

New versions Tunepal and Tunepal HD were submitted to Apple today and should be live in the next few days with the following new features:

Reorganised tabs, so that the record tab is first
Offline tune searches (tags are stored and can be resubmitted when you go back online)
A pause button on the tune display screen
Tune playback now loops
Advanced tune sharing through 338 sharing services including Twitter/Facebook etc by using Add This.

I am hard at work on the new versions of the Tunepal apps. These will be on the app stores in August sometime. A free upgrade for existing users. Here are the new features:

If there is no internet connection, Tunepal will store up the transcriptions so you can identify them when you go online later.
I am rearranging the order of the tabs, so that the record tab is the first one you see when the app launches
You will be able to install the Android version of Tunepal to the SD card
I am removing some of the distracting animations from Android Tunepal
Playback of tunes will loop back to the start of the tune
I am going to add Add This support to the iOS versions of Tunepal so that tunes can be shared on Twitter, Google+ etc, not just Facebook

Any other suggestions, please let me know. Im going to be very busy in September so now is your chance!

Improvements to Tunepal

Today I made a couple of improvements to Tunepal:

I’ve added around 500 new tunes to the database from the website thesession.org. These can be found through the website or through any of the Tunepal mobile apps. Just play a phrase or do a title search! This brings the number of tunes in the Tunepal database to 17,135.

I also added the ability to share a tune through email, Facebook, Twitter etc. through the tunepal.org website. When you find a tune using tunepal.org, there is now a list of sharing icons:
